Seeing DOTS at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

Just like Vashti made lots of dots of many colors, families at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s International Dot Day celebration got their chance to see their mark framed in swirly gold.

Celebrating the 14th anniversary of International Dot Day and the 20th anniversary of The Dot - the book that started it all - Paul and Peter H. Reynolds welcomed dot makers from near and far to the Boston art museum on Saturday, Sept. 9 for an afternoon of creativity.

Dot Day 2023 saw the numbers rise to 27 million people in 200 countries and sovereign territories celebrating the grassroots “creativity and courage” movement, started in 2009 by Terry Shay, a teacher in Iowa. Inspired by New York Times best-selling author/illustrator Peter H. Reynolds’ classic storybook for all ages, The Dot, this global celebration inspires young and old to embrace the power of personal creativity to help make their mark on the world, and move it to a better place. This creativity was at the center of Saturday’s event at the MFA with two book readings & signing with Peter H. Reynolds and a make your own dot station hosted by the MFA staff.
